Amazing cruise offer by Celestyal cruises to discover Biblical highlights of Turkey and Greece. Follow the footsteps of St paul! As the distance between any two biblical sites in Turkey and Greece can take several tiring hours by coach and necessitate changing hotels every night, it is ideal to visit these biblical sites by cruise instead. This also enables you to use the cruising time to study God’s Word on the relevant biblical journeys by ship. It is perfect option for individuals and groups.

Day 1: Athens (Lavrion)

Athens, one of the world’s oldest and most vibrant cities, is dense with ancient monuments, museums, galleries, cafes and shops. Wander through Plaka to the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum or take a tour at the Temple of Poseidon, at Cape Sounion where you can admire the view of the Saronic Gulf.

Day 2: Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is the second biggest city of Greece and perhaps the prettiest one. It is here that Apostle Pavlos founded the first church whose ruins can be found close to the Arch of Galerius and St. George’s Rotonda. Visit the 5th century Basilica of St. Demetrius, the largest church of Greece or go to the Byzantine Museum and the “White Tower”, an excellent example of post-Byzantine architecture.

Day 3: Kavala, Greece

Kavala, the biblical Neapolis, is built amphitheatrically on the slopes of Mt. Symvolo and is one of the most picturesque cities in Greece. Just outside the city, at Philippi, Saint Paul preached his first sermon in Europe and also baptized the first Christian in Europe, “a woman named Lydia”. The prison where Saint Paul and Silas were held can also be visited.

Day 4: Istanbul, Turkey

In Istanbul, East meets West and people, cultures and history blend magically. The city is home to Hagia Sofia, the Greek Patriarchate, the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi palace and the gardens of Sultanahmet Square. Visit the Grand Bazaar which consists of 61 covered streets but make sure you leave time for a cruise from Europe to Asia across the historic Bosporus.

Day 5: Dikili, Turkey

Dikili is just a short drive from ancient Ephesus and the Terrace Houses and the House of Virgin Mary. You can visit Acropolis which is part of the ancient town Pergamon and then the Red Basilica which is one of the largest Roman structures still surviving from the Ancient Greek World. You will be doing your Mass here before visiting Asclepieion Ancient City.

Day 6: Kusadasi, Turkey

Kusadasi is a beach resort in Turkey famous for its marina and its colorful bazaar where visitors can find a wide selection of hand-made carpets, leather bags and local products. But mostly, Kusadasi is known due to its proximity to the ancient ruins of Ephesus, and its Terrace Houses one of the world’s largest open-air museums, the House of Virgin Mary and the Sirince Village.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 7: Patmos, Greece - Syros, Greece

Patmos is a beautiful verdant island, where Saint John the Evangelist wrote the book of Revelations in a mountainside Grotto, after hearing the voice of God. Atop its highest hill, within the halls of Hora stands the monastery founded in his honor in 1088. This island apart from its great significance to Christians all over the world, is now turning into a cosmopolitan destination. Syros is the capital of Cyclades and once the center of all trade activities. You can still see and admire the mansions built by the island’s bankers, merchants and ship owners. Ermoupolis is a beautiful city with cobbled streets, two hills, the orthodox and the catholic one staring at each other and a magnificent central square that is definitely worth visiting.
